Recent Sold price analysis
The recent sold price of houses in Corolla, in the range $500k to $1M, was fairly close to their tax
assessed values:
June 2006 sold an average of 5% below Tax assessed value
July 2006 sold an average of 7.3% below Tax assessed value
Aug 2006 insufficient sales to be reliable
Sept 2006 sold an average of 5% above Tax assessed value
The assessments were done in late 2003/early 2004.
Southern Shores Police Chief
Southern Shores Police Chief Thaddeous (“Thad”) Pledger apparently took his own life, Monday
October 9, while at his office. Town officials are still investigating the circumstances behind this
tragedy. Chief Pledger was 44 years of age. He was married and was the father of 3 children.
Chief Pledger had been employed by the Town since July 2000. Before becoming Chief of
Police, Mr. Pledger had been the second in command for the Southern Shores Police
Department.
Parade of homes
The Outer Banks Home Builders Association yet again hosted the Parade of Home. From
October 5th - 8th. 34 homes were featured this year.
My favorite being #13 , built by Griggs & Co. and located in Point Harbor. The house was 6300
sq ft, sound front, with excellent features, trimmings and Brazilian Cherry decking.
